    Eating in the Lorong.

There's a particular problem if you're a muslim working in Sentul and you don't have access to a vehicle. Your choices of eating lunch drop drastically. For me and my muslim colleagues, we have only two mamak restaurants, a chicken rice stall (that isn't open as much as we want to), a few stalls in a market nearby and the Lorong.

What is the Lorong? In Malay, the word "lorong" means lane, and this particular eatery, though not a restaurant, yet not a stall, happens to be located in a very small, very cramped lorong.

The stall is run by a young Malay guy who's there once in a while and sometimes even helps out in the cooking. Most of the time though it will be his Indonesian employees who are the ones who prepare the food. On the menu are all sorts of delicious dishes for nasi campur (mixed rice) and if you prefer, you can order something fried too, for example, nasi goreng or mi goreng.

There's just one downside. The Lorong is dirty. Eating there is a health hazard. Passing by is a health hazard. Talking about it, heck, blogging about it is a health hazard. You get tasty food, but with all the flies, cats, and goodness knows what other wild life lurking in the corners, you could find yourself not particularly in the mood for digesting food. This could prove detrimental to that idea of having lunch you were thinking of.

    But such is Sentul.
